Bespoke Training

We offer a wide range of cycle maintenance training courses for community groups and the general public.

The structure and content of each course is outlined below. In order to complete each course, the trainer will work with you to carry out a series of practical modules. Each module will help to gradually build up the skills and techniques you will need as experienced bicycle mechanics.

Basic Maintenance Course - £25 per session (recommended 2 sessions)

  • Bicycle Overview – Names of parts and how to check a bike (M-Check)

  • Tools and their uses

  • Preventative maintenance – cleaning and lubricating parts

  • Cycling in comfort – adjusting the riding position

  • Tyres and punctures – tackling roadside repairs.

  • Fitting accessories.

 

Intermediate Maintenance Course - £25 per session - (recommended up to 14 sessions)

  • Brakes – adjusting and replacing pads and cables.

  • Gears – how they work, indexing and replacing cables.

  • Headset servicing and adjustment.

  • Bearings - bottom brackets and hubs.

  • Wheels – assessing faults, truing of slightly buckled wheels

  • Chains, Cranks, Chain rings and Cassettes

  • Front and Rear Derailleur – Overhaul and replacement.

 

Wheel Building Course - £99 inclusive of VAT

During the course you will learn both the theory of wheel building as well as the practical skills and techniques involved in building wheels and wheel truing. The course is suitable for complete beginners; no previous experience is required before taking the course.

There is also the option of choosing and building your own set of wheels that you can take away at the end of the course. An additional charge is made for materials and parts (please contact us to discuss your requirements)

All workshop sessions for bespoke courses last for 3 hours and currently run on the first Saturday of every month from 9.30am until 12.30pm.

The Park Tool School Course

In addition to our bespoke courses, Bikes 4 All is a delivery partner for the Park Tool School Course.

The Park Tool School Workshop is an introductory level course and is written for cycling enthusiasts who would like to consolidate any self-teachings with official techniques. It is a unique programme for learning bicycle maintenance, service and repair in a hands-on environment and benefits from the curriculum being designed by the Park Tool Company.

The Park Tool School is taught by Bikes 4 All at our state-of-the-art, purpose-built cycle workshops in Leicester. As part of the course, you will receive the Park Tool School manual, providing you with information on basic mechanical wheels, bearing assemblies, braking and shifting systems - everything you need to know to keep your bicycle rolling smoothly and safely.

The price of this course is £199 (inclusive of VAT) this price includes all workshop registration costs, certificates and buffet lunch on the training days. If you do not live locally and need assistance with local accommodation, we can also provide you with this information. All delegates will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion of the 2-day course.
