Qualifications and course structure

Choose from one of our cycle maintenance courses that are delivered on site, in your school, or from our fully equipped workshop in Leicester City Centre.

1. ASDAN / COPE AWARDS

Our courses contribute towards the attainment of one unit of both ASDAN and CoPE youth awards.

Our bespoke training course is an engaging 10 hour course that gives the learner the opportunity to explore the basics of bicycle mechanics ranging from how-to-fix-a-flat to more advanced gear and brake skills and techniques.

The course is entirely practical and learners work towards refurbishing their own bike at the end of the course. The course content mirrors that of the City & Guilds NVQ level 1 course with the exception of the more challenging Wheel Building modules.

This course is perfect as a basic introduction to cycle mechanics before moving on to an accredited qualification and is often delivered in 2-hour sessions over a 6 week period.

Cost - £180 +VAT per student

2. City & Guilds (3993) in Cycle Maintenance and Repair

The City & Guilds course is a formally accredited qualification equivalent to an NVQ level 1 that covers a wide range of bicycle maintenance and repair skills and techniques. The course is an ideal stepping-stone for those students who have worked well through the ASDAN course and are keen to progress their skills further.

The course is taught over a period of up to 60 hours and gives the learner the opportunity to gain a wide range of skills in cycle maintenance. There are 9 modules in total, each requiring a practical assessment to be undertaken in order to pass.

Cost - £650 +VAT per learner this reduces for advanced group bookings

3. EAL Awards Level 2 Cycle Maintenance

The level 2 course is an ideal progression route from the City & Guilds qualification enabling the learner to build upon their acquired technical skills while working towards more vocationally orientated modules.

The modules for the level 2 course are as follows:

1.      Working safely in a cycle maintenance environment

2.      Understanding of customer service requirements

3.      Understanding the British Standard relating to the sale of new cycles

4.      Principles of cycle frame technology and cycle headsets

5.      Principles of cycle gear systems

6.      Principles of cycle brake systems

7.      Principles of cycle hubs, wheel truing and cycle tyres and tubes

The majority of assessments are practical-based, however there is a small element of written (multiple-choice) assessment focusing primarily upon Health & Safety in the workplace.

Cost - £1000 +VAT  per studen. This reduces for advanced group bookings

At the end of each course, all students are awarded with a certificate of achievement detailing the specific m<br /><div class=<< Start < Prev 1 2 Next > End >>
